Iconic Amenities Relocated for Town Square Works

The transformation of Caloundra’s heart is moving into its next exciting chapter, with preparatory works now underway to enable the demolition of the Council administration building at 77 Bulcock Street - the future home of the new town square.

As part of the Caloundra Community and Creative Hub vision, these early steps will help unlock a connected, vibrant public precinct linking The Events Centre, the new Library+ Caloundra building, the Caloundra Regional Gallery, and the revitalised town square through to Bulcock Beach.

To prepare the site for demolition, the existing public amenities will be relocated within Felicity Park.

These amenities, wrapped in Caloundra’s branding - signature teal, sandy and orange tones inspired by Caloundra’s coastline - will be carefully moved to a new position between the Caloundra Regional Gallery and the original Caloundra Library building, facing east for visibility and access.

Works summary:

  • Start: Early morning, Tuesday 10 February 2026
  • Completion: Friday 13 February 2026
(timed to ensure full access ahead of Sunday’s popular Caloundra Street Fair)

A crane will be required to undertake this relocation, meaning the centre of Felicity Park, and the driveway access behind the 77 Bulcock Street Building will be temporarily unavailable during the main works period. Some loud noise and short-term disruption are anticipated.

To ensure continuity for the community, temporary event public amenities will be available throughout the works. These will be located at 77 Bulcock Street (Otranto Avenue side).

Council will also install temporary wayfinding signage to assist visitors navigate to key community facilities throughout the precinct.

These measures will help maintain smooth movement and accessibility while the relocation works are completed.

Cr Terry Landsberg said the amenities relocation is a required part of delivering the community-led vision for Caloundra’s future:

“The community has told us that a welcoming, vibrant public square is central to Caloundra’s identity and its future. Relocating the amenities is an essential step that brings us closer to creating a connected, flexible and creative public precinct that reflects the character of our ‘City of Beaches’.”

The Caloundra Community and Creative Hub will bring together arts, knowledge, nature and public life in ways that celebrate the region’s unique identity - from sweeping coastal landscapes to its strong cultural spirit.

With the support of the Queensland Government, Council is progressing an accelerated program to deliver the town square to a standard that meets community expectations and aligns with the Caloundra Centre Master Plan.

As the town square moves from design toward construction, every step - big and small, helps lay the foundation for a more connected, welcoming and vibrant Caloundra.
