Families invited to Picnic on Kings with Bluey
Picnic on Kings will transform the lawn at Kings Beach Amphitheatre into a giant picnic featuring fresh local food, kids' activities and appearances from Queensland’s favourite animated characters.
International superstars Bluey and Bingo will headline a family-friendly picnic event as part of The Curated Plate Food and Drink Festival this year.
Taking place on Saturday, July 26 from 10am to 4.30pm, the event will be part of The Curated Plate’s opening weekend. Families can look forward to a fun-filled day celebrating food, community and play.
Early-release tickets are expected to become available in the coming days, with those signed up for The Curated Plate updates getting first access.
Entry to Picnic on Kings is free, but with limited spaces, families are encouraged to secure their spots quickly. There will also be an exclusive meet-and-greet opportunity with Bluey and Bingo available for purchase.
Among the activities, children and the young at heart can embrace their inner farmers by learning how to plant vegetables. There will also be cooking activities, an opportunity to learn about bee hives, lawn games, face painting, a petting zoo and Sunshine Coast Libraries will be giving away 1,000 Bluey books!
Sunshine Coast Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg encouraged locals and visitors to secure their spot quickly for the inaugural event.
“Bring a picnic, your little farmers and your mini chefs to enjoy a day filled with hands-on learning, tasty treats, food trucks and the excitement of seeing Bluey live,” Cr Landsberg said.
As Queensland’s premier food and drink festival, The Curated Plate runs for ten days, celebrating the region’s best food and drink experiences.
Bluey and Bingo, who famously reside in a classic Queensland home in Brisbane’s suburbs, will make their way to the Sunshine Coast, thrilling local fans.
Among the many excited families is Sunshine Coast mum Karly Mercer who described the event as a dream come true for her two boys.
“Our whole family are Bluey fans and we can’t wait to get our tickets online for Picnic on Kings,” Mrs Mercer said.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for the kids to meet their favourite characters, learn how to grow their own food and enjoy a family picnic with incredible local produce."
This event venue is not pet-friendly, so please leave your dogs at home. Of course, Bluey and Bingo are exceptions.
