We Spent All Day at Library+ Caloundra

Here’s why you’ll want to spend all day there too

Caloundra just got a serious glow-up. The long-awaited Library+ Caloundra has officially opened its doors, and trust us - it’s not just the shhhh-kind-of-library. This sleek, multi-level space is a game-changer for locals, creatives, families, and anyone who loves good coffee and good vibes.

Located at 1 Omrah Avenue, Library+ Caloundra is the Sunshine Coast’s newest cultural and community hub. Designed with connection and creativity in mind, this building is part of a broader vision to activate the Caloundra CBD - and it’s already delivering.

From the moment you walk in, you find yourself wandering in over the elevated boardwalk through the mature figs of Bill Vernados Park, you’re greeted by a light-filled foyer, tiered seating perfect for casual hangs or impromptu meetings, and a junior library that’s basically a wonderland for little readers. There’s also a young adult zone, quiet reading nooks, and outdoor activity spaces that make this place feel more like a community playground than a traditional library.

Let’s talk caffeine. On the ground floor, you’ll find a small but mighty coffee kiosk run by local legend Paula, the owner of Lovetts Coffee on Bulcock Street. Paula’s new venture inside Library+ is all about connecting with the community - and she’s nailing it.
Whether you’re grabbing a flat white before a meeting, catching up with friends after storytime, or just popping in for a quiet moment over lunch or a sweet treat, Paula’s kiosk is quickly becoming a go-to spot. It’s a brilliant example of how small business can thrive in public spaces - and it’s giving serious heart to the building.

Library+ isn’t just a cultural asset - it’s an economic boost to Caloundra. With over 130 council staff now working from the building and a steady stream of visitors, the library is injecting fresh energy into the Caloundra CBD.
Local cafes, boutiques, and service providers are already seeing increased foot traffic, and the vibe around town is electric during the school holidays. This is part of the Caloundra Centre Activation Project, which includes a new town square, and streetscape upgrades - all designed to make Caloundra a destination, not just a stopover.

Library+ Caloundra is leading the way in sustainability. With a 6-star Green Star rating, solar panels, battery storage, and water-saving features, it’s setting a new standard for eco-friendly public buildings. It’s proof that beautiful design and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. An included bonus is that the foyer spaces are all accessible, with power and wifi, from 7am to 8pm seven days a week.

Expect workshops, exhibitions, community events, and plenty of reasons to keep coming back. The building is designed to be flexible, welcoming, and full of life - and it’s already becoming a favourite hangout for locals of all ages.

Library+ Caloundra is the new heart of the Sunshine Coast. It’s where culture meets coffee, creativity meets community, and local business gets a boost. Go check it out - and don’t forget to grab a brew from Paula while you’re there.
